Dorothy Fuller Polash

RC 1967-1970
While married and raising two girls, Dorothy worked along side her husband starting two successful software companies. As a mom, Dorothy served on the PTA Board in Silicon Valley from 1998 to 2002. In 2003 Dorothy, along with 7 other families, co-founded Summit Preparatory Charter High School, now rated in the top 10% of public high schools nationwide.
Today, Dorothy is mentoring young political activists via Ignite National and Emerge America, becoming more active in the climate change movement via Ice911 Research and is currently awaiting her first granddaughter.

Dorothy Polash worked as an actress and pop/rock singer in New York City. There she began her activism by working on the Hunger Project where she spoke to community groups and was on the organizing team for world wide events.



Dorothy is an HRC and Emily’s List Major Donor, as well as a board member of several non-profit organizations.

Dorothy is currently very active with The Human Rights Campaign. Since the fall of 2008, she has been working with HRC Staff Members that include Legislative Director Allison Hewlett, Family Project Director Ellen Kahn, and HRC President Joe Solmonese.

In 2008, Dorothy lobbied Congressman Russ Carnahan in Washington DC regarding the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). In 2009, Dorothy lobbied for the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, the passing of the Matthew Shepard Hate Crime bill, and against Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in the offices of Senators Boxer & Feinstein, and House Reps. Anna Eshoo, Barbara Lee, & Dennis Cardoza as well as Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

In the 2008 national election as an active member of NARAL and Planned Parenthood, Dorothy did a special promo for Proposition 4 in California through Planned Parenthood. She also worked on stopping Proposition 8 with HRC, Equality California, and the Courage Campaign.

As a member of the Advisory Board for Link TV (TV without borders), Dorothy set up the Educational use of LINK TV with the History Department of Summit & Everest High Schools. She later became an occasional on air spokesperson at Link.

Dorothy worked on a special world wide panel for International Rescue Committee learning materials on DR Congo & Sierra Leone, among others, to answer questions on supporter awareness. She is also a supporter of Save Darfur/Violence Against Women and the Darfur genocide.

Her overall focus is Human Rights for all people. Human Rights emphasizes that we are all one species, the human race, on this earth.
