Linda Cool
 RC 1972 & 1976-78

Since Linda was 12 years old, she dreamed of moving to New York to study at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and to live at the Rehearsal Club.  The first dream was realized in September 1970 and the second dream, in January 1972, when a room became available at the Rehearsal Club.  It was a very happy day.

In the decades since then, Linda had an ordinary working career in a law firm but she worked a compressed work week so that she could devote much of her time to classes at the Art Students League, singing lessons and performing in Opera Workshops in New York City, Washington, DC and Italy.

Since retiring this year, Linda has returned to an early love — horseback riding.  Linda spends four days a week at Riverdale Stables learning dressage and working with Flying Manes, a therapeutic riding program for children with disabilities.  The photo above was captured with one of her favorite horses, Virginia.

Linda continues her studies at the Art Students League  where she has worked with George Cannata, Frank O’Cain, William Scharf  and Bruce Dorfman.  Currently, she is studying Mixed Media with Deborah Winiarski.

Linda has been a recipient of the ASL's Vaclav Vytlacil Merit Scholarship and her work has been exhibited in the following venues:
Salle Piazza, Centre Pompidou, Paris
Whitney Humanities Center, Yale University
Fondation des États-Unis and the Fondation Suisse, Cité Universitaire de Paris
Manhattan Borough President’s Office
Jefferson Market Library, New York City
Phyllis Harriman Mason Gallery, New York City
Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City

Today, Linda is blessed and privileged to be retired and living on New York's Upper West Side.  Life feels filled with new possibilities, among which is reconnecting with former friends and looking forward to meeting and getting to know new Rehearsal Club alumni.
